At the American Cancer Society, we know cancer doesn’t just affect one person—it touches entire families.
At 34, Jen was diagnosed with aggressive breast cancer. She endured months of chemo, surgery, and radiation and today, she’s cancer-free. Yet, just as Jen celebrated her recovery, Carl faced heartbreak, losing his mother to cervical cancer.
Two battles. One family forever changed.
Join us at the 4th Annual North Carolina Discovery Ball and help us drive closer to the ultimate win: a world without cancer.
Elizabeth Alexander, who was honored at our North Carolina Discovery Ball on March 15, 2024 passed away on June 27.
Elizabeth continued to lean on her family, friends and faith throughout her cancer journey with Stage IV colon cancer, but recently entered hospice care. When she shared her story in the video and in person at the Discovery Ball, we know that everyone recognized her strength and passion for life. She faced her cancer fight with inspiring courage and grace.
We are so grateful for her willingness to use her experience to raise awareness and emphasize the importance of funding for cancer research.
We will continue to honor her memory.
The American Cancer Society is the leading cancer-fighting organization with a vision to end cancer as we know it, for everyone.
